Engraving was a complimentary service by Rolex so I didn't have to pay anything and there was no extra charge for handwriting. From what I was told it was laser which makes sense because I sent them a digital file of the text/handwriting.
I see a lot of talk of "heirloom" watches on this forum. Engraving just cements that, IMHO. Most can be buffed out if necessary or the caseback can be easily replaced. These are Rolex watches, not unique antique pateks!
